IS YOUR LOCATION HAUNTED?
The answer is YES! Multiple Haunters and Crew as well as some customers have reported paranormal happenings at the Lake House Hotel of Horror.
WHERE IS SAYLORSBURG, PA?
Historic downtown Saylorsburg, Pa, is located in the picturesque Pocono Mountains. We are not far from many of the large tourism points of the Poconos like Camelback Mountain and the Crossings Outlets as well as many of the large resorts scattered in and about the Pocono Mountain Region.
HOW BIG IS YOUR PRODUCTION?
Well to say the least the screams are so intense that sometimes our patrons scare the Ghouls and Ghosts inside! We are located in the legendary Lake House Hotel, which the original footprint of the Victorian Era Stage Coach Stop of our building dates back to 1820 with the expansive hotel addition happening at the turn of the century. We have three attractions (Altered Nightmares, The Hotel of Horror and The Exhibition Macabre) for you to witness inside as well as additional entertainment offered throughout the month. DOES ANYONE TOUCH YOU?
That is an often asked question, and no our actors will not touch you. As we said, our ACTORS will not touch you.
HOW MANY ACTORS DO YOU HAVE?
Do you want to know how many of the living nature or of the dead?
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO HAUNTED HOUSE ATTRACTIONS?
Each year the haunted houses (The Hotel of Horror and Altered Nightmares) are overhauled with a new theme and design. The namesake attraction – Hotel of Horror takes you all the way to the top of the Lake House Hotel while Altered Nightmares boasts The Cage of Terror. Each attraction is overrun with some of the best haunters (actors) in the industry and we specialize in the sound and lighting effects. Top industry professionals work year round to create these remarkable attractions.
WHAT IS THE EXHIBITION MACABRE?
The Exhibition Macabre is a static display museum located in the original front parlor of the once grand hotel and a portion of the Lake House Hotel bar. It features actual antiques – medical, dental, asylum, funeral, and penitentiary. This is perfect for the horror and history enthusiast. So much to see – includes a guide to answer all your questions.
WHAT IS THE BEST TIME TO ARRIVE?
We have seen the parking lot filling up to an hour and a half before the opening of the attraction. Entrance is based on a first come first served basis. Please check the calendar for time schedules of the event days.
ARE THERE STROBE LIGHTS?
Yes – we have strobe lights in addtion to other special light and sound effects.
HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN GO THROUGH AT ONCE IN A GROUP?
We suggest to be able to get the best experience that you travel inside our walls in groups of 4 or less. We do understand though at certain times exceptions need to be made, please see our infamous linemen for consideration!
WHAT IF I AM TOO SCARED TO CONTINUE?
We’ve got your back. Ask an actor and you will be escorted out, but don’t forget there is no re-entry and no refunds.
WILL THE HOTEL BE OPEN LATER THEN THE LISTED CLOSING TIME?
As the line permits, we will remain open. (If the line begins to get too long though we reserve the right to close the box office for purchases, but will allow all patrons who have purchased a ticket that evening to experience the attractions they have purchased tickets for.
WHAT IF IT RAINS?
We have you covered! In our indoor holding area and under our Big Top style tent. We are an indoor walk through style haunted house attraction with a fully covered wait.
WHAT ABOUT AGE RESTRICTIONS?
We are a Halloween and Horror Celebration. We do like to say 13 or over for a straight answer, but we do know that exceptions will be asked for. With parental permission and participation we will allow younger.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR, ARE THEIR ANY ATTIRE RESTRICTIONS?
Rubber shoes are highly recommended. No sandals, flip-flops, or high heels are allowed. Please think ahead and dress weather appropriate. Although most of our wait line is either under the circus style tents or inside, the temperatures can play a major role in your night. As the end of October grows near so do the frosty temperatures.
HOW ABOUT CONCESSIONS?
We will have on site concessions as well as being able to direct you to local establishments for a bite to eat or a night cap.
ARE THERE RESTROOMS AVAILABLE?
Restroom of the portable variety are available onsite, placed near concessions and are highly recommended BEFORE getting on line…
DO YOU OFFER GROUP DISCOUNTS?
Groups of 10 or more will receive a 10% discount with pre-registration through email. The designated leader in your group must purchase the tickets in bulk (one person to approach the box office window to receive the discount. (Pre-registration is required.) Bus tours and group sales of 40 or more are still available for Friday Nights and Sunday Nights only, for an even deeper discount. All large groups must be prepaid for the deeper discounts. WE HEARD ABOUT A MOVIE BEING FILMED AT THE LAKE HOUSE HOTEL?
You heard right. It is called 6 Degrees of Hell, and it was not only filmed in part on location at The Lake House Hotel of Horror, but was loosely based on the tales of terror in this house of horror. Written and produced by Harrison Smith, Directed by Joe Raffa, and staring Corey Feldman , Brian Anthony Wilson, and the infamous Cast of the Lake House Hotel of Horror. The crew for 6 Degrees of Hell invaded the walls of the Lake House August of 2011, capturing in grave details the fear that flows through the halls of this once impeccable mountain resort.

HOW DO I BECOME AN ACTOR/HAUNTER AT THE HOTEL OF HORROR OR ALTERED NIGHTMARES?
Yes we do have the greatest job in the world, thanks for asking! You first have to have a love of all things Horror and Halloween. You have to meet certain requirements and audition. Follow us on Facebook or watch the website for dates to audition usually in August.
